12:00 pm to 7:00 pm

[Hors les murs]

Hors les murs: Faire avec sans…

Installation/Performances in the FVA’s orbit.

A poetry installation in a private home, words nestled in an unfamiliar apartment for the space of one weekend. Wanderers find poems on the fridge and improbable lists, reminders of the things missing from our lives and the lives of others. Should we try to fulfil every need? Or make do, without? Sound: Simon Elmaleh. Photos: Jacynthe Carrier.

2:00 pm to 6:00 pm

[Hors les murs]

Hors les murs: Poèmes en pyjama

Installation/Performances in the FVA’s orbit.

It is afternoon and I offer you a small performance in a private space. The space is not mine, but the words are, taken from notebooks and unfinished plays. Fragments, part storytelling, part poetry, set against a backdrop of ambient music.

5:00 pm

[“Band + Poetry” Happy Hours]

Benoit Paradis Trio + Queen Ka

Divan orange, Montréal, Québec

Free admission

The singer-songwriter-trombonist serves up his own special brand of minimalist jazz with the Benoît Paradis Trio. With virtuosic ease, his comic-book songs portray everyday Montreal in a slightly off-kilter (and often funny) light, a mix of insanity and sensitivity. Slammer Queen KA adds her unique persona and poetic verve.

7:00 pm to 8:00 pm

[Troc de mot]

Troc de mot

La Sala Rossa, Montréal, Québec

For the FVA, Marie-Claude De Souza assumes the guise of a travelling salesgirl ready to barter her own words for yours. Be voluble, be discreet, come to watch or to share… The artist will go away with a head full of your words, then spill them onto paper and deliver an original piece of work inspired by her FVA encounters.

At the FVA March 11 and 12. The work will be released here only, March 14.

8:00 pm

[Shows at 8 pm]

Michel Faubert: Spoken métal

With: Michel Langevin, Dan Mongrain, Jean-Yves Thériault & Ramachandra Borcar.

La Sala Rossa, Montréal, Québec

$10.00

Le conte me sort par les oreilles

He got the message: let loose and go wild. It was friend Langevin who talked about the encounter between the space-metal-fiction universe of Voivod and the fantastical-retro-futurist world of Faubert the storyteller. Tonight, the planets are aligned, the earth trembles, the Mayan calendar splits down the middle, the old-time cracker barrel rolls away, and black holes open up over the Sala Rossa.

There will be Voivod-style metal and visionary tales à la Faubert. There will be poetry and the electronic tricks of Ramachandra Borcar (aka DJ RAM). There will be a chair and even something traditional, and they’ll hear it in St-Raphaël-de-Bellechasse.

10:00 pm

[Night Shift]
